The Midsummer Common Cattle

Cambridge residents have grazed their livestock on the city’s Midsummer Common since the twelfth century. The practice continues to this day. Visitors on the common, a popular picnicking area, can spot various cattle breeds here throughout the spring and summer months. At Parker’s Tavern, the rare breed Cambridge steaks on the evening menu, and from the common’s herd of red poll cattle.
