A city steeped in history
Why not add a visit to this historic city to your UK vacation itinerary?
Only a 50 minute train ride from London, Cambridge is the perfect accompaniment to your UK vacation. While you’re here, stay in a hotel that is undeniably British and quintessentially Cambridge. Classic Edwardian interiors are combined with bespoke, leather-padded writing desks, low ottomans and tiered chandeliers in playful colours and rooms full of natural light.
A Cambridge Connection
The rich history of this quintessentially British city is undeniably entwined with the history of the United States; from early Pilgrims to shared experiences (and barracks) in WWII and even a founder of an Ivy League college.

Madingley American Military Cemetery
The only permanent American military World War Two cemetery in the UK, this beautifully maintained site is an impressive and dignified tribute to all those service personnel who lost their lives during the war.

Peterhouse College Pilgrims
Among the first pilgrims to set sail for America on the Mayflower were many scholars from Peterhouse College, including William Brewster, a prominent separatist who championed the move to a new 'Promised Land'.

Duxford American Air Museum
Serving as a base for many of the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Second World War, the American Air Museum at Duxford is a story of two nations united through war, loss, love and duty.

The Eagle Pub
One of the oldest pubs in Cambridge, The Eagle was a favourite among RAF and American airmen who began using candles and lighters to burn their names, squadron numbers and other doodles onto the ceiling. These signatures still remain today.

Emmanuel College Chapel
Within the chapel of Emmanuel College can be found a stained glass window depicting one of the colleges most well known graduates. John Harvard attended Emmanuel College before setting sail to Massachusetts where he left over half of his estate to fund the brand new Harvard University.

Little St Mary's Church
Within this medieval parish church in the heart of the ancient English city of Cambridge can be found the Washington family coat of arms, a black eagle atop a shield of red stars and stripes. This is thanks to the church once being the ministry of The Reverend Godfrey Washington, George Washington's great uncle.
