Mansell’s talent was spotted by legendary Lotus founder Colin Chapman, who brought him into the team as a test driver before giving him his Formula 1 opportunity in 1980. What followed was an extraordinary F1 career spanning 15 seasons, during which Mansell raced for Lotus, Williams, Ferrari and McLaren.
In 1992, after years of determination and unforgettable battles on the track, Mansell achieved his ultimate goal, becoming Formula 1 World Champion with Williams.
His career also included two memorable years with Ferrari, where he became the last driver to be personally selected by Enzo Ferrari. His fearless, determined driving style quickly won over the passionate Ferrari fans, who affectionately nicknamed him “Il Leone” – The Lion.
