26th & 27th August, between 10.00 and 19.00

A celebration of East Anglian art.

The Ballroom at University Arms is transforming into an art installation this month, with the launch of our first ever art fair, “In the Frame: University Arms Summer Art Pop-Up”. Honouring our location by presenting artists and subjects from East Anglia, we have invited three specialist art galleries to illustrate our theme: Skymeadow Gallery, artEast, and Nicholas Holloway Fine Art. Come join us on August 26th and 27th and stop by at our Parker’s Tavern restaurant to refresh your palate – as well as your palette!

Skymeadow Gallery

Run by husband & wife team, Charles & Sybilla Hart, Skymeadow Gallery is an offshoot of gardening writer Charles’ books, “Skymeadow: Notes from an English Gardener” and “No Fear Gardening: How to Think Like a Gardener”, and is inspired by Britain’s long tradition of “painter gardeners”, most notably Sir Cedric Morris and John Nash.

Charles & Sybilla recently transformed a small cottage at the top of their garden into a gallery and have a particular focus on East Anglian paintings, from Constable to lesser-known but much-loved local artists who have made significant contributions to the region’s cultural fabric over the last few hundred years. They also offer an art advisory service specialising in East Anglian paintings.

artEast: Contemporary Art, Paintings, Sculpture, Prints & Ceramics

artEast was established in 2019 by classically trained portraitist Georgina Barclay and contemporary art curator Henny Palmer-Tomkinson and is noted for its engaging exhibitions in East Anglia, which are enjoyed as much by visitors as exhibitors. A tempting draw for collectors, Georgina and Henny curate shows of local and international established and upcoming artists, and support a different art school at each exhibition, so that a student’s work might hang alongside the portfolio of a seasoned professionals.

Prior to founding Art East, Henny Palmer-Tomkinson worked for the London gallerists Jonathan Cooper and The Redfern Gallery, while Georgina Barclay’s work has been shown at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Gallery and she has been commissioned to paint portraits all over the UK and Europe, most notably of HRH The Prince of Wales and HM The Queen in her Jubilee year.
