A concert bringing to life some of the best jazz to grace the silver screen. Expect swinging classics and gorgeous ballads from iconic musical moments on film, performed live by a top-notch quartet, two sets, one unforgettable evening at Parker's Tavern.
The Quartet
Tim Boniface (piano & saxophone) — Tim Boniface is a Cambridge-based saxophonist, pianist and composer who leads his own ensembles, including a regular trio night at Parker's Tavern. He's also Artistic Director of Girton Jazz at Girton College and a regular collaborator with James Pearson of Ronnie Scott's All Stars.
Sam Miles (saxophone) — Sam Miles is a saxophonist and Royal Academy of Music graduate, awarded a Yamaha Jazz Scholarship as one of the UK's top graduating jazz musicians. He leads his own quartet and has performed and recorded with groups including the Tom Green Septet and Stoop Quintet.
Joel Humann (double bass) — Joel Humann is a Canadian bassist and composer based in Cambridge, with decades of experience as a sideman across jazz, pop and experimental circles. His playing favours tone, timing and sensitivity — an ear for the space between the notes.
Joe Taylor (drums) — Joe Taylor is an award-winning drummer, trained at the Academy of Contemporary Music and named Outstanding Drummer of the Year in 2009. He's performed and recorded across rock, funk and jazz with artists connected to Jamiroquai, King Crimson, Deep Purple and One Direction.
The Night
Doors open at 7:30pm, first set from 8:00pm (60 minutes), a short interval, then a 30-minute second set to close the night.
Dine First
Arrive early and settle in for dinner at Parker's Tavern beforehand, a table around 5:30–6pm works well ahead of doors at 7:30.
