Venture to Jurassic Arcade this Easter

Calling all intrepid adventurers!

Journey back in time as Grand Arcade turns positively prehistoric this Easter Half-Term with the arrival of a herd of full-size animatronic dinosaurs. Try to find all the magnificent beasts and take part in their giant dino egg hunt! Roaring through the centre from Saturday 1st April to Sunday 16th April will be the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex and the spectacular Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Pteranodon, Carnotaurus and Coelophysis. The awesome dinosaurs - which last invaded Grand Arcade in 2021 - are back by popular demand for an ‘eggstraordinary’ Easter exhibition.

Dino-fans can pick up a Free Jurassic Trail Map to guide them through 250 million years of natural history, encountering the supersized species on all floors of the shopping centre. There’ll be a feast of fascinating dino facts accompanying each colossal exhibit displayed on panels, created with the help of our partners at Cambridge Sedgwick Museum. In the spirit of Easter, there’ll be an egg hunt, though not of the chocolate variety. Instead, adventure lovers are invited to scour the Jurassic Trail for a selection of huge hatching dinosaur eggs.

Children from six local schools – Impington Village College, North Cambridge Academy, Sancton Wood, St Mary’s School, The Leys, and Trumpington Community College – were challenged with creating cracking designs for the ancient eggs. Make sure you vote for your favourite design as the winning school will receive a £250 gift card to put towards school equipment and £100 worth of products from John Lewis & Partners.

Don’t forget to bring a camera (or camera phone), to film your amazing encounters and capture a memorable snap of yourself inside a dino egg (if you dare!). Creative explorers will be invited to let their imaginations run wild, by dreaming up and drawing a ‘CAMsaurus’ (their very own dinosaur species that would have roamed around Cambridgeshire). The winner of the competition will have their creation turned into a unique and personalised soft toy to treasure.

So, pack your binoculars and compass, grab your map, and set off on your Jurassic adventure at Grand Arcade; it’s sure to be a dino-mite day out!

“We are delighted to bring back our Jurassic Arcade event to Cambridge. Impressive giant animatronics and dinosaur eggs will be on display for more than two weeks. This year, we made it extra special by partnering with our neighbours, the Sedgwick Museum, and with local schools who will exhibit their “prehistoric designs” in our centre” – Julie Kervadec, Grand Arcade Marketing Manager.
