Notes on Colour considers what happens when colour becomes more than a property of an artwork and begins to shape the way we see and experience it.

Bringing together Vicken Parsons, Jeff McMillan, and David Batchelor, the exhibition traces three distinctive approaches to colour developed through sustained artistic practice. While their works differ in scale, material, and intention, each artist treats colour as something active and elusive: capable of creating atmosphere, disrupting perception, suggesting space, and producing an immediate physical pleasure.

Their work moves between the recognisable and the abstract. Forms and materials remain present, but colour is allowed a certain independence from them—sometimes defining an object, sometimes unsettling it, and sometimes seeming to exceed its boundaries altogether.

Rather than attempting to explain or contain colour, Notes on Colour celebrates its instability: its ability to shift according to context, material, light, and the eye of the viewer.
