Luxury Travel Magazine.

In celebration of the upcoming coronation of King Charles III on May 6th, some of Britain's finest hotels will offer visitors the chance to mark the occasion in utmost elegance.

Coronation Inspired Afternoon Tea at Parker's Tavern, Cambridge

University Arms Hotel invites guests to take a trip to the historic town of Cambridge to enjoy a delightful coronation-themed afternoon tea at its flagship restuarant, Parker's Tavern. The tea is inspired by tastes of British royalty and includes a traditional strawberry victoria sponge, named after Queen Victoria, a Darjeeling tea and honey macaron, a rose and pistachio Battenberg, which was originally created as a wedding gift for Prince Louis of Battenberg and Princess Victoria (granddaughter of Queen Victoria), a royal gala apple crumble choux and a lemon custard tart, the late Queen Elizabeth’s favorite. Freshly baked scones, fit for royalty, will be served with raspberry jam and clotted cream, and served warm from the oven. Savory items include Buckingham Palace-worthy sandwiches, including smoked salmon & cucumber, beef & horseradish, and egg & cress, plus sides of chicken salad and indulgent truffle sausage rolls. This will be complemented by a selection of classic teas by luxury tea brand Newby, whilst those looking to raise a toast to the new monarch can do so with a glass of one of England’s most exciting new producers, Saffron Grange, which will be poured by the glass or bottle. Finally, to mark the special occasion, guests will be given corgi-shaped shortbread to take home with them. A tea-to-go option will also be available, if guests would rather enjoy their treats on Parker’s Piece or by the tranquil River Cam. The coronation afternoon tea will be available from Saturday 29th April until Wednesday 31st May.

HOW: The Coronation inspired afternoon tea will be available from Saturday 29th April until Wednesday 31st May at Parker’s Tavern every day from 12pm – 5pm. The afternoon tea starts from £36 per person and dietary substitutions are available at no extra cost. To book, please visit https://parkerstavern.com/afternoon-tea/.
