Here's why it has been ranked as the city to visit in 2022

Not to blow our Cambridge trumpet but we love the city we live in and can understand why so many people throughout the year visit for a weekend getaway.

Offering stunning architecture to admire, , history to absorb, independent , bars, , bikes, walks and of course the punting boats, there is a lot in the city that everyone can enjoy.

That is why it comes as no surprise to hear that the city of Cambridge has been named as one of the best places in the UK to visit for a city break.

The luxury travel magazine, has featured Cambridge in their list of the UK's best city breaks to visit in 2022.

Cambridge featured alongside other popular city breaks such as Edinburgh, Bath and Manchester in the list.

Ranked in no particular order, describes Cambridge as the "The architectural city" providing two solid reasons why they've included the city in their final 13 roundups and why people should visit in the new year.

One of these reasons is due to the reopening of the University Arms hotel in the city.

"The rooms, particularly the signature suites, named after famous Cambridge alumni, are wonderful; and the playful, sexy, buzzy bar-restaurant combo on the ground floor, Parker’s Tavern, is utterly ravishing."

The second reason for their choice in adding Cambridge to this year's list is due to Kettle’s Yard gallery.

They wrote: "Kettle’s Yard gallery, a 10-minute walk from the hotel, has also reopened after a dramatic expansion at roughly the same time as the University Arms.

"Which is the second reason why 2022 will be such a good year for visitors to Cambridge.

"Kettle’s Yard, with its exceptional collection of 20th-century British and European art, is one of the most intimate, idiosyncratic and moving exhibition spaces in the UK – quite as marvellous, in its one-of-a-kind way, as Cambridge itself."

The Traveller also describes Cambridge as the city that "does not do fashionable. Never has. Never will. It is not that kind of place".
