Take a step back in time…

…be inspired & in awe of the magnitude and splendour, not experienced often in this modern world.

Bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976 by Elsie Bambridge, daughter of infamous author Rudyard Kipling & Located just eight miles South of the City, Wimpole is a vast country estate comprising a mansion house, garden, farm and parkland. The beautiful mansion house reveals intimate rooms & beautiful and unexpected Georgian interiors, including Soane’s breath-taking Yellow Drawing Room and wonderful plunge bath.

The fascinating basement corridor offers a glimpse into life below stairs.

Stroll around the colourful parterre garden and wander through the Pleasure Grounds to the Walled Garden, abundant with fruit, vegetables and herbaceous borders. Home Farm, a commercial livestock farm and rare breeds centre, contrasts the traditional farmyard with the noisy modern piggery and cattle sheds. Designed for the 3rd Earl as a model farm in the late 18th century, Home Farm was at the cutting edge of agricultural practice of the time and a showpiece of the estate tour. Stride out across the landscape park, amongst the rare-breed cattle and imagine the previous owners planning their visions of grand avenues and spectacular vistas.

This working estate, guided by the seasons, enjoy the whole day at Wimpole this summer, whatever the weather!
