A stellar quinquet in the heart of Cambridge. Cambridge saxophonist Sam Miles brings together a stellar quintet featuring Vij Prakash, Sandy Suchodolski and Dave Ingamells, performing jazz standards through fresh, contemporary arrangements. Expect live jazz, soulful vocals and familiar favourites, reimagined by an exceptional Cambridge and London ensemble.
For this special performance, the quintet is joined by Georgia Van Etten, whose powerful, soulful voice draws on soul, folk, country, rock and cinematic pop. Georgia has performed internationally at festivals including Porretta Soul Festival and The Long Road, and headlined London's Omeara. Her debut album, Deep Black Water, received international attention, with features from NME, MTV, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4.
Every November, Cambridge comes alive with jazz. Since 2014, the Cambridge Jazz Festival has filled the city with more than 400 musicians across 80 events and 30 venues, celebrating everything from big bands to spoken word, and bringing together the talent of the town and the universities. This afternoon at University Arms is our own celebration of that spirit, with a Cambridge and London ensemble and a special guest from further afield. Make it part of your festival fortnight.
