Dear Guest,

We are so excited to be able to reopen our doors and welcome guests back to University Arms.

As we all adapt to changes in our daily lives and business practices as a result of the coronavirus, our goal at University Arms is to continue to provide our guests with the highest levels of service, care and attention that you have come to expect of Cambridge’s leading hotel, whilst at the same time implementing a series of specific measures that have been designed to keep our guests and staff safe and well through these unusual times.

Whilst we have tried to minimise the impact of these measures on the guest experience, wherever possible, you will notice some differences throughout the hotel and also in your room. For example, we have instigated social distancing measures into all of our services: including options for contactless check-in and check-out; appropriately spaced tables in Parkers Tavern; in our bar and in the Library, (as well as the fitness equipment in our gym); and encouragement of the Chat functionality via our Marriott Bonvoy App to limit fact-to-face interaction with our team, where practicable and desirable by guests.

We have long taken pride in the cleanliness of all areas of our hotel. In the current circumstances, we have implemented a series of even more stringent additional measures, which includes: a comprehensive deep-clean of each room after occupation in which every surface, item and touch-point is thoroughly disinfected; the removal of certain high-touch items from your bedroom(for example, additional toiletries & towels, bathrobes, iron & ironing board, fresh milk, stationery – all of which can, of course, be provided to you on request – please just ask); a room-quarantine policy, where each room is left empty for 24 hrs after occupation; options for contactless room service and much more besides.

Our teams, in each of their respective disciplines, have undergone intensive training to ensure that we can meet and exceed these new standards. As above, our over-arching ambition is to keep our guests and staff safe, whilst at the same time minimising the intrusion that these measures necessarily impose on your enjoyment of the hotel. We must adhere by these standards, but we will never forget that we are in the hospitality business and it is our job to exceed your expectations and to make you as welcome, comfortable (and dare we say it, spoilt) as we possibly can whilst you are a guest, under our roof.

So may I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your understanding, for your cooperation and for your patience whilst we adjust the working of our hotel to this new environment.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our wonderful team if you require any further information or if we can be of any service to you, in any way at all.

Best regards,

Ian James General Manager
